How to put your site online

By now, you should have already developed your site on your personal computer. The contents of your site must be copied on our servers in order for your site to be visible at all times on the internet. To perform this operation we will use the FTP (File Transfer Protocol). You must use a FTP program such as "cute ftp" or "leechftp" in order to connect to our server's FTP.

What is a FTP program?

FTP programs or sometimes called FTP clients are programs with user-friendly interfaces that simplify transferring files via FTP. These programs are available for all operating systems (windows, linux, Mac OS).

Where do I find an FTP program ?

All it takes is a quick search on Google or Yahoo. Just type FTP client, FTP program, or simply FTP in your preferred search engine. We recommend the following link to help you find a FTP program:

A number of ftp clients exist, such as cuteftp, ftpexplorer, ftpFileZilla, even windows explorer can be used as an ftp application.

In the upper right search field, type "FTP" and then select your platform (operating system).



You will see a list of FTP programs. Select one, download, and install. Once installed, the program must be configured. Due to the overwhelming diversity of FTP programs, we cannot explain how to use all the programs. Although, this guide will provide instructions for the following two FTP programs:

How do I transfer my files?

Before transfering your files to our servers, you will need the e-mail with the subject "OVH-720Plan your_domain.tld" (for example, if you had a 720plan).

This e-mail has all the necessary information for your to connect via the FTP programs. The information will be such in the e-mail:

To use your web space, connect to our FTP server below:
(Attention, your data must be placed in the www directory)


You can also configure your FTP client. The quantity of existing FTP clients is very important. As a general rule, you will have two windows divided in two vertical sections. One of the two parties represent your computer while the other is your OVH server webspace. Now jut select a file and drag and drop ( or click on "Send") to transfer files.
